Movement plays a significant role in cake design.

Why?

Because movement creates a sense of motion and flow which helps to create a vivid, emotionally engaging piece that will leave a lasting impression on a couple and their guests.

It’s a way to transform a wedding cake so the eye of the viewer is lead on a particular path, creating a sense of drama and intrigue as their eye is constantly drawn from one element to the next.

Movement also has the power to evoke certain feelings and emotions which can resonate with a couple and their guests.

Picture ethereal designs giving a sense of calm and serenity, whilst a design with vibrant swirling colours could create a sense of joy and energy.

On Monday I took part in my first live demo with @cakemakerscollective.

It was such a fantastic evening and I loved showing everyone how to create this horizontal textured marbling effect with delicate rice paper florals!

Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs when y

Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs when you least expect it.

As this cake mishap in the car was definitely not part of the plan!

But when life throws us unexpected challenges, it is how we rise above them that truly matters.

I could have easily given up or shed a tear.

But instead I took charge.

Repaired the damage as best I could.

Before rushing to restock supplies to bake an additional cake to deliver to the venue in time for the evening reception.

Yes the main wedding cake was a few inches shorter than designed.

But as a true professional, I went above and beyond to ensure the bride and groom still had a beautiful wedding cake to cut, themselves and the guests were none the wiser as to what happened, and there was still enough cake for everyone!

So just remember - we are all human and setbacks are a natural part of life.

They happen to the best of us.

Embrace every challenge as an opportunity to showcase your resilience and determination.

As with a positive mindset we can conquer anything that comes our way!

Big congratulations on your wedding day J+N - I’m so sorry the cake wasn’t as tall as designed but also so pleased you didn’t notice until I told you the next day. Thank you for being the most understanding and best couple ever! You’re absolutely amazing!

Also a big thank you to Amelia @theelvetham for going out of her way to find me a kitchen to make the necessary repairs (and for giving me a little pep talk!)
